Rain Rain Go Away

Yesterday Steamboat woke up to pouring rain. A brave few made their way to the hill to go (water) skiing, mainly because we were so psyched on all the pow pow we were s'poseta get that we had no back up plan. It wasn't bad up top but seriously, rain in January? c'mon man.

Brrrrrr!

Well it's another great season here in the boat. A record snowfall November led way to an above average December. December's conditions were very tricky as the Pineapple Express delivered a healthy dose of sierra cement the week before Christmas. Great for the base but a lot more work to ski than "Champagne Powder". Then as the new year approached temps plunged into the double digits below zero as it continued to snow producing razor sharp snow crystals that were impossible to wax for. Who wants to ski at -22f anyways? Things are looking up for January as temps are looking to range from around -1f as a low to 28f as a high for the first half of the month with a good north west flow looking to pump some more moisture our way! Viva la nina!!!
